From Homeschool to College FAQ’s 1. Can my child get into college as a homeschooler?
Yes, most colleges and universities accept homeschool students. Traditional homeschool students who are not enrolled in an accredited program, however, are held to a higher standard than students who graduate from a public or private grade school. 2. Does my child need a High School Diploma and Official Transcript to get into college? No. It has been my experience, however, that without a High School Diploma and Official Transcript, homeschool students (who are not enrolled in an accredited program) have to meet more stringent requirements and are required to have a higher SAT Score. 3. Can a traditionally homeschooled student receive the HOPE Scholarship upon being accepted into a college or university in the State of Georgia? No. But if you graduate as a traditional homeschooler, you may retroactively receive the HOPE Scholarship for the first 30 Semester or 45 Quarter Hours attempted at any eligible Georgia Public or Private College, University or Technical School. 4. What are the benefits of applying to colleges and universities with an accredited High School Diploma and an Official Transcript verses applying as a traditional homeschooler? In the State of Georgia, if you have an accredited High School Diploma and Official Transcript, and you meet the GPA requirements, you will immediately qualify for the HOPE Scholarship.
