A.  Currently, we offer 6th – 12th grade core academic classes,  along with music, art, and other elective class.

Q.  Is Westridge Christian Academy Accredited?
A.  Yes, WCA is fully accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Q.  If my student graduates from Westridge Christian Academy, will he/she be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship?

Q.  What about your teachers….are they certified or degreed?
A.  Most of our teachers are certified.  All of our core academic teachers have a bachelor’s degree or above.  All of our elective teachers are either degreed or specialized in the subject area that they teach.  Please click here to learn more about our teachers.

Q.  How much is tuition and can I set up a monthly payment plan?
A.  Please click here for our 2010-2011 tuition rates.  Even though tuition is due in full upon registration, we can set up a payment plan on a ten month schedule beginning August 1 of each school year or a twelve month schedule beginning June 1 of each school year.  Students on the twelve month payment plan must be enrolled by May 31 of the previous school year.

Q.  What other programs do you offer that are comparable to what my student would get in a traditional school setting?
A.  WCA has a wide variety of programs and activities.  Besides our core academic classes we have a music and arts program where your student can take computer, creative writing, painting, drawing, private lessons, music theory, band, group music lessons and more.  We have a drama department, which puts on a production and performance each year.  Students perform several times a year at various venues throughout Cobb County.  We also have an athletic program where your student can participate in tennis, track or General PE.  Our High School has a student government council, which hosts monthly teen activities, fund raisers, prom, yearbook and more.  The school as a whole hosts monthly field trips for all students K5-12th.

Q.  What are your school hours/days?
A.  Core Academic Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9AM – 5PM.  Elective Classes take place on Fridays from 9AM – 4PM.  Our facility is open for private music lessons on Wednesdays (By appointment between 9AM and 5PM).  Our athletic program runs on Mondays (Elementary) and Wednesdays (MS/HS) beginning at 11AM at Lost Mountain park, off of Dallas Hwy in Powder Springs.  Click here for more information about our Athletic program.

Q.  What about textbooks?  Does WCA issue textbooks to the students?
A.  Because WCA operates somewhat like a university, students are responsible for acquiring their textbooks.  WCA has made it easy for our students to purchase their textbooks by becoming an affiliate with Amazon.com and Christianbook.com.  We have listed all of our required books by grade level on our web site.  Please click here for our online textbook store.  Please click here for our complete curriculum list.

Q.  What about class size and student/teacher ratio?
A.  Classes range in size from six to twelve students per teacher.

Q.  What about homework?
A.  Homework is expected to be completed at home on the student’s off days and handed in when the student comes to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  To help the parents and students keep up with homework, we have a Lesson Assignment page online for each teacher/class.  Assignment should be online by the end of each month for the next month’s assignments.  Some teachers also email the lesson assignments to the parents weekly to ensure the student keeps up with the work.  Please click here for the Lesson Assignment page.

Q.  What if my student has a learning disability?  Is WCA able to accommodate him/her?
A.  Westridge Christian Academy does not have the capability to accommodate students with moderate to severe learning disabilities such as Asperger’s Syndrome, severe ADD and severe ADHD.  If your student has a mild learning disability, please set up an appointment to meet with one of our school counselors and we will evaluate him/her for admission purposes.

Q.  Does my student have to take all of his/her classes at the WCA facility in order to graduate from WCA?
A.  No.  Your student may take as few or as many classes as he/she wishes at our facility and still graduate from WCA.  In order to have a complete transcript and be eligible for graduation, however, your student must also be enrolled in our Independent Studies program if he/she is taking classes at another facility or doing independent work at home.  Click here for information on enrolling in our Independent Studies program.

Q.  I understand that WCA is a Christian-based school, but my child is of another faith.  Does this mean that my child is excluded?
A.   Not at all!  Yes, we do operate our school based on Christian values and principles, but our school and educational program accommodates all faiths.  The Christian elements of our program embody basic moral values applicable to any religion, including fairness, tolerance, and respect for all.  All students regardless of their faith are welcome at WCA.
